Getting By With A Little Help

Ringo Starr was my favorite Beatle when I was in High School.  He sang a song called “A Little Help From My Friends” and it was a good song.  I’ve discovered that bloggers are very willing to lend a little help to their friends, too.

Several bloggers have written posts that are very helpful with technical issues, how to write posts, those do’s and don’ts, and tutorials on using online tools.  I have gained the most help on technical issues from Rick with his many blog posts during June and July written to give assistance to everyone.

I knew that I would never be able to remember everything he wrote in all of those posts, so I had to resort to printing out each one.  I need a hard copy to refer to when I am going to tackle one of these blog helps.  So, I created my Rick Notebook of Blog Helps.

I had a spare binder so I used that and made a Table of Contents first. DSCF5810

I made chapter dividers so that I can find a specific tutorial blog as fast as possible.  I get so busy sometimes that I need to get my blogs written and posted quickly.  I think a notebook like this will help.

This is the title of one of the posts I printed out in full.DSCF5812

We always keep a printer on board in our motorhome because we print out several different things throughout the month.  It sure helps when I want to print something like an entire blog post.

Our printer will print in full color, which always looks best.DSCF5813

I’ll never have the expertise to do everything possible with Blogger, Live Writer or Picasa but I think with the “help from my friends”  I can get some of these basics done.   Rick, Randy, and Al are all very talented Bloggers and have graciously helped us other Bloggers so much over the past few weeks.  Thanks to each of you, your help is appreciated.

I hope I can learn a lot more when summer is over and I can concentrate on blogging more fully.  It is a lot of fun but it does take time and patience.

Until next time…..so long for now!

I had never thought about creating a notebook with the technical suggestions. I will say that Gerri has suggested I print out their tech lessons for future references. Guess I need to do some catch-up work.
Take care and thanks for the post.

Margie, I am so thankful that you have found my suggestions helpful and I really have to say thanks for the kind words.

But, wow!! Seeing your notebook so well organized with blog tips and tricks is really special. Al wrote a post tonight about what keeps him motivated to keep writing his blog.

For me, reading your blog tonight, I know exactly what he was talking about as it is this kind of stuff from my blogger friends that keeps me writing blogs as well.

By coincidence, or fate, I just finished tomorrows blog on what I think is a rather unique Live Writer topic.

Thanks again.

I have printed out some of the technical help from "the go-to guys" but I need to go back and retrieve them all. The two that I've used the most are Rick's "How you add label/comments in smaller font" and "How do I insert two pictures side by side". All the hints we give each other are SO helpful! Thanks, everyone, and you, too, Margie!

I forgot to also mention: picture sizing and using Live Writer are another two tips that I've made good use of! Hey, now it sounds like I've learned more than I thought I had.

I sometimes print things I want to save, but my printer got jammed and now it won't print. I've done everything I could to get all the little bits of paper out, but there must be something I can't see. Sometimes computering can be more frustrating than I'd like to deal with.

Wow Margie you are very organized. What a great idea to put all of the print outs in a folder.

I better stop procrastinating and get mine into a binder. Thanks for the idea.

Great way to save thoise tips and have a reference,I agree with the need for a printer, I bought my $40 dollar Canon printer at Wally world and it scans, prints, and copies all without taking up a ton of space. just put it under the dinette when not using it. Be safe out there. Sam 7 Donna.

Awwww shucks Margie, now you got all 3 of us big guys blushing:)) It's quite a little community we have here isn't it. Always nice to be in a postion to help someone with something wherever possible. I always kind of liked that odd ball Ringo too.

You are without a doubt, so very organized. We always say we are anal when it comes to being organized, but we love it!

Great ideas!

You are sooo right, Margie..Those 3 brainiacs should form a group called "Techno-Taskmasters".
Unfortuately, when I read their tutorials, I feel like I did when I tried to learn German in High School. I took 2 years of German and can't speak a word of it...except to ask the time.
THANKS TO THE TECHNO-TASKMASTERS!! I'm just a really slow learner>>

Hey Margie, that's the same idea I had for Rick's tips, but I didn't have a printer. :( So, I finally bought one just the other day. Now I just have to get it out of the box and figure out how it works. :) I even have a three ring binder just waiting...

You already know that I'm a newbie at this blogging thing and need all the help I can get. Would you consider selling a generic copy of Rick Notebookof Blog Helps? I need all the help I can get...If you have any spare jokes, I'd like those too...lol

I get so impatient and frustrated when it comes to tech things. I just looked at Ricks blog today. Gosh - I wish I did not have this fear. Maybe I need to get back to the basics. Or just decide, I am not THAT dumb! LOL!
