Family Arrives and More Fun At WDW

OK....we are just eating too much food right now, but let's pretend I didn't just share that with all of you and get on to the business at hand.  Our son, Dennis and his girlfriend, Cyndi, arrived Saturday morning.  They took the red-eye flight out of Seattle on Friday night.  Bruce and I waited for the at the hotel we booked them into, the Wilderness Lodge.

The lodge was inspired by the lodges you can find at some of our national parks, like Yosemite Nat'l Park in California.  This lobby is quite impressive and it soars about 8 stories high.  It has exposed timber columns and there are two 55-foot Pacific Northwest totem poles on either side of the room.  There are 864 guest rooms in this magnificent hotel.  The grounds are also spectacular with a swimming pool that looks like it belongs in a lodge setting high in the mountains.  The decor is Native American in design and is beautiful.

Here is the lodge as seen from our boat taxi on Bay Lake.                          Here are Cyndi and Dennis.

This is the lobby as seen from the 6th floor above.                          Outdoors is just as spectacular.

I was able to snap a couple of photos of a Mallard duck and an Egret (member of the Heron family) outside of the hotel near the lake.

We did venture over to the Magic Kingdom for just a couple of hours.  The castle here at WDW is much taller and more detailed than the castle at Disneyland in California.

We also went to visit the Haunted Mansion.  That is always a fun ride where you can see many ghosts.  No flash photography inside though.

Also....there is always the It's A Small World ride.  One trip through that place and you cannot get that darn song out of your brain !!!   That's if from the Magic Kingdom on Saturday.  Today it rained a lot but we still managed to get some fun things worked into the schedule.

We're heading over to the Animal Kingdom park Monday morning bright and early.  Hopefully, the rain will be gone.

Until next time.....so long for now!

It's a small world after all...etc, etc. I know what you mean about that song sticking around in your head, but I still like that attraction!

Thanks for showing us the other stuff and interesting things about Disney World instead of just the popular things most folks talk about. It's like a personally guided tour looking at your blog!
