I think I have missed welcoming Melissa....so THANK YOU Melissa for joining my group! Also, I'd like to say welcome aboard to Sarah and also to Terry and Carol Oakley for signing on as well. A big THANK YOU to all of you today!! I appreciate the attention you give to reading my blog.
Sunday morning we had to get going early as we had a long drive. We were driving from Johnson City, Texas to the Lake Charles, Louisiana area. We have the book Casino Camping by Jane Kenny. It lists the various casinos throughout the country that permit RV's to stay overnight in their parking lots. Some have limited hook-ups for a cheap price, too.
Sunday we crossed the Louisiana state line around 3:00 pm. We weren't paying attention....nothing new there!...and drove right past Exit 27 on Interstate 10. So that meant we had to drive over this bridge that crosses the Sabine River and turn around and go over it again to reach the Isle of Capri Casino exit.
We pulled into the free dry camping lot first and then walked over to check out the few spaces they have with an electric hook-up. Those are much closer to the hotel and casino. Hmmmm. We thought we might fit in the one on the end and still be able to extend the bedroom slide. We walked back and got the motorhome and drove though the narrow lanes of the parking lot to Space #1. We pulled in and just fit by the hair on our chinny-chin-chin.
We walked into the casino lobby and registered for the 50 amp electric space and paid our $10.00. The dry camping lot was free, but it was warm that afternoon and we figured $10.00 was a cheap price to pay for the benefit of air conditioning.
We slept well, parking lot noise did not bother us, and we got up at 6:00 this morning to begin the next leg of our journey. Tonight we are in one of our membership campgrounds, and I'll post on that tomorrow most likely. I need time to get out and inspect the place better and take some photos.
Until next time.....so long for now!
