Isleton to Pismo Beach

We left Isleton this morning before 8:00 and made our way east on CA 12 to get to I-5 in Lodi.  We stopped for diesel and propane at the Flying J and then headed south on the interstate.  We used to go all the way down to Pismo Beach by staying over in the Bay Area and going through near Oakland and San Jose but there is just so much traffic there.  Plus, when you get on Hwy. 101 south of the Oakland area there are precious few places to pull off the highway and park a large rig for a lunch break or potty walk for Annie.

This time of year the hills are all a soft brown color.DSCF6592

So we take I-5 now and avoid the Bay Area.  Then we go back over to Hwy. 101 via CA 41 at Kettleman City.  This route takes us directly over to Hwy. 101 at Paso Robles.  From there it is a straight shot down to Pismo Beach.

CA 41 was a good road and the traffic was light.DSCF6594

Soon enough we were on 101….the last leg of this trip.  Just south of the turn off to Avila Beach, the road made a turn and we got a full view of the Pacific Ocean.  WooHoo, we were almost there.  Just another couple of miles and there was the turn off we needed.

We pulled in to our RV park for the next 49 days….Pismo Coast Village RV Resort.  There is a lot to say and show here at our “home” for a while, and I’ll do that over the next 49 days.  Our check-in was swift and we were assigned to site #143.  We had requested #145 but apparently there is somebody already there and they aren’t planning to leave for a while.  That’s OK.  Our site is still great.  I will also do a RV Park Review in a few days.

Bruce got the window screens on and the satellite dish up and running.DSCF6599

We got the tire covers on, walked Annie, hooked up the computer and that was that!DSCF6601

It feels good to be here and settled in for a while.  I’ve got a lot more scrapbook pages to get to for Zoey’s next 2 albums, blogs to write, places to see, things to do, and a lot of rest to catch up on.  It will all start tomorrow morning when we head off to our second favorite McDonald’s for English Muffins and coffee!  Life is good.

Until next time…..so long for now!

I loved seeing that blue sky and the sign saying "1 South - Pismo Beach" - can't wait until we'll be seeing it in just a little over 3 months.

I'll have to keep that hwy. 41 route in mind too as an option for us depending on which way we go. Thanks for mentioning that!

Enjoy your leisure time and take it easy!

Whew. Glad you made it safely to Pismo Beach. I wish I were there with you! Enjoy the ocean and the climate. This time you probably won't have rain like you did last winter!

Always a great feeling to safely reach one's destination. Coming across the flat plains of New Mexico I always strain to see the mountain tops in the distant haze. Once over that first mountain range I always feel we are 'home' for the winter....wherever in the Southwest it may be each year:))

Margie,

I thought of you and Bruce yesterday when I was reading a magazine in Border's (I think it was Budget Travel) and came across a full page ad for Pismo Beach, CA. Can't wait to visit it through your eyes!

I missed your posts while your connection was iffy!

There is nothing like getting all set up for a nice long stay and settling in! I look forward to your "tour", as we have not spent any time in that area. Time to let the tension flee from your shoulders and light a campfire, if you can!!

Wow! You've landed in my neck of the woods - just 125 or miles up the Hwy 1 in Big Sur. I love that RV park where you are staying. Which McDonald's are you going to? The one in Arroyo Grande or Oceano? We love the one in Oceano. So clean. We spent many a morning there while campground hosting at Oceano State Beach. I'm excited for you!

Thanks for your comment Levonne. We go to the McD's in Pismo Beach across the street from the outlet mall and near Scolari's Market. We can walk there from our RV park if we want to.
