RV PARK REVIEW: Campus RV Park, Independence, Missouri

Sometimes when we look for an RV park near a large city the prices can be a bit scary.  With any real estate it is all about "location...location...location."  We planned a 5-day stop here in the Kansas City, Missouri area and chose the small town of Independence.  We were pleasantly surprised to find a great location and a great price with the Campus RV Park.  The "big city" of Kansas City is only 10 miles away.

We found this park in the Trailer Life Directory.  It is a Good Sam park and also offers discounts with FMCA or AARP.  After our Good Sam discount we paid $28.27 per night which includes tax.  It doesn't get any better than that.  The park offers free WiFi, cable TV, full hook-ups (50 amp too), and concrete pads to park on.   These buildings below are the office, the laundry and the restroom buildings.

There are only 30 spaces available and they are all back-ins.  They are 45 feet long.  The roads are all wide and paved.  Each site has it's own grass lawn and a picnic table.  Pets are allowed, but a limit of 2 per rig.

The park is right next to the Historic District of Independence.  We walked to everything in the town except the Truman Library and Museum.  You are well off the highway here, but I-70 or I-435 exits offer easy access.  I will say that you can hear train whistles blowing in the daytime hours.  The tracks are somewhere nearby but we could never actually see any trains.

The couple that checked us in on the day of our arrival were extremely friendly and got the paperwork done quickly.  You can see them and more photos of the park on the park's website (linked above).  We will stay here again when we return to the Kansas City area.  The park and the town are wonderful.

Until next time.....so long for now!

It is so nice that you do these reviews, it says so much more than just what their website would say. Hearing it right from an RVers mouth so to speak.

Thanks!

Thanks again, Karen. I try my best to include an RV review from each place we stop. I appreciate your kind words after each visit!

Enjoy your day.

We also appreciate hearing about the parks you stay in, You even include pictures of the restrooms and laundry which believe it or not rate highly on our list since we don't have a washer in the trailer and would have to depend on a clean laundry. also Sam doesn't mind taking a long hot shower in a camp facility as long as it's clean and looks like somebody takes pride in cleaning it, much like at home when company is coming. Hope you guys are enjoying your stay in the Show-Me state. Be safe out there, your friends, Sam & Donna.

Hi Kenny and Angela: Yes, this is a nice little park and we have enjoyed our stay here. We've seen a few more things in the K.C. area on this trip and have a few more saved up for the next time we come through here. We love Missouri!!

Thanks for your suggestions and your comments.

It's good to know that there are so many good RV parks out there. The news would have us believe that RVing is on it's way out because of the economy, but we've seen differently on our trip.

Thanks for the park review, Margie!

Do you ever stay in state parks? I appreciate your reviews, but just wondered. I haven't been following your blog for very long, so hence the question. :)

Another great review. I agree with the others, it's nice to see all the pictures and it sure beats some of the other reviews I've read.
