Tomorrow morning we will be leaving this area and moving on to Indiana. We have scheduled a 2-day stop in North Vernon at a Coast-to-Coast park in our member system. Before leaving Cincinnati I thought I'd give one last look around to a few of the things we've done or seen that I haven't posted on yet.
The city skyline is nice and they have a lot of skyscrapers to see. Nothing like those in Chicago or New York...but skyscrapers for here nevertheless.
This is the Paul Brown Stadium where the Cincinnati Bengals play for the NFL. The stadium opened in 2000.
We made a stop at Fountain Square in the downtown area. It was a really cold day but we went into Graeter's for a double scoop of ice cream. It seems they are well-known for their special blends of ice cream with chocolate chips. Chocolate "chunks" is more like it. It was delicious.
Up in the Mt. Adams neighborhood is an area that is hilly like San Francisco and has a lot of trendy shops and cafes. It sits high above the Ohio River. We just drove through and gave it a look as parking was impossible in that area. The brick row houses were pretty. We also saw more barges on the Ohio River from up in that neighborhood.
Over near the Taft Historic Site, we saw this funny looking apartment house. We have seen this style in San Francisco, too. Makes good use of a strange piece of property.
One thing Cincinnati is noted for is their chili. We read in the Road Trip USA guide book about a place to get great Cincy chili. It is Camp Washington. We found it very easily at the corner of Hopple and Colerain Streets where it has been since 1940. A new building was built on the site a few years ago to replace the old one, but the business has remained here since it's opening. It is located in the heart of the old meat packing district. They are open 24 hours a day, 6 days a week. They serve chili in Cincinnati poured over spaghetti. Then you order it the "way" you want it. Chili 2-way is the spaghetti with the chili on top. 3-way is spaghetti, chili and beans on top. 4-way is spaghetti with chili, beans and onion on top. 5-way is spaghetti, chili, beans, onions and cheese on top. We both ordered the Chili 5-ways. Plus we couldn't resist the cheese fries as a side order to share. Do you think they put enough cheese on the chili and the fries? It was sooooooo good!
This pretty much wraps up our current visit to Cincinnati. We didn't see everything this wonderful town has to offer, but we saw enough for now. It is time to move on.
Annie is ready to see some new scenery, too. She really gets excited when she sees us getting the motorhome ready for moving day. She is a lucky dog to get to see so many wonderful places.
Until next time....so long for now!

No, Marge there is never enough cheese!!! lol Man, do I miss Graeters. *sigh*
You know they next time through that area since y'all are in to dead president stuff. You ought to schedule a visit to the Golden Lamb in Lebanon, Ohio (about 30 minutes for Cincy). Lots of history there. I used to live there too. :) Thanks for all the great 'Nati posts. Makes me miss the Buckeye state even more.
Oh wow, I would hate to figure out how many "points" that dish had. I have never seen so much cheese....I bet it was just delicious.
Thanks for such great tours while you visited in Cincinnati.
Travel safely and enjoy the journey!

Now I'm hungry for Cincinnati Chili, Graeter's ice cream, White Castles, and Hudepohl beer if you could still find it anywhere. I went to school in Mt Adams - many years ago - and it was sure different then. I think I liked it better, but today it attracts more tourists and high paying renters. Mt. Adams is known locally as simply "The Hill"
Your picture of that chili alone is enough to make we want to visit Cincinnati!! I'd have ordered the 5-way too!! Thanks for the tour of Cincinnati.
I have been to Cincinnati about a hundred times -- but it is interesting to see it through your eyes.
As I was looking at your pictures and reading your comments is was like discovering a new place.
I find this part of the blogs we read so interesting. To get a view through the eyes and comments of different people -- a way to re-discover familiar places.
I think sometimes it is easy to get so used to seeing a place that you don't even see the character and charm anymore.
Great job as always of taking us along with you!
