We had not been in this part of Oregon in over 30 years, so we figured we needed to come back for a few days before heading over to the coast. We are staying in one of our member parks in the small town of La Pine, which is about 22 miles south of Bend.
We are spending 8 nights at the Cascade Meadows RV Resort. This resort is located just off of Hwy. 97 in central Oregon. We are here through our Resorts of Distinction (ROD) program and can stay for free. We opted for one of the 50 amp. spaces and paid $3.80 per day surcharge. The resort is also affiliated with Coast to Coast, RPI and AOR. The general public is welcome at $35.00 per day or a monthly rate of $400. At the office we met an easy going woman who checked us in quickly. The park wasn't very busy so she just had us drive out and find a site of our own choosing.
There are 110 RV spaces with full hook-ups and there are also some tent spaces. The RV spaces are all very long and grassy. We had no problem getting our Tour and the Explorer into space #35. It was level, too, which is always a plus in our opinion. The rows are all one way but plenty wide enough to pull the largest rig into the space easily. We found a nice space out in the open so our satellite dish would work.
From what I understand after talking with a gentleman I met while walking Annie, this is an old park. It seems fairly well kept up, however. I checked out the laundry room and it was OK. There were several washers and dryers.
The building with the restrooms is also the place for the laundry room. I checked out the ladies restroom and found it to be a little on the rough side, but it appeared to be clean.
They have a small restaurant on property. It is open during the summer season. We did not go there so I have no review on that. In the office building is a small social gathering spot and a trading library. They have a playground for kids and a swimming pool that was not filled yet. We had night time temperatures below 28F a few times so they may wait a couple of more weeks before filling the pool. The grounds here are large and plenty of space to get some good exercise walking done each morning. The park is next to Hwy. 97 and you can hear some highway noise, but it isn't loud. Across the highway and off to the West you can see a great view of some snow-capped peaks in the Cascade Range.
The management here does not mind if you wash your rig at your site! Yippee, we had a lot of dust to get off the Tour after spending so many days in Colorado and Utah. Bruce got to work on that while I cleaned the inside of the MH to get about an inch of dust out of there, too.
This is a very nice park and we are only a few miles north of La Pine, which has a population of less than 2,000. There is a grocery store, a truck stop, McDonald's, some small restaurants and shops. It is a much smaller town than Bend to the north, but a whole lot less crowded. It is very nice and peaceful. We would choose to stay at this park again when we travel to central Oregon. It's a nice park with nice people.
Until next time.....so long for now!
