Wednesday was a great day. It is always a great day when we get the opportunity to meet some fellow Bloggers. But first.....
We drove from Neskowin to Seaside, which is right on the coast of Oregon. Normally, the coastal views as you drive along Hwy. 101 are fabulous. Yesterday, however, we had overcast skies with occasional rain showers. Maybe not a good day by some folks standards, but for us traveling in an RV there are few "bad days" to get through.
In a recent comment, Rick from British Columbia mentioned that he had to look Neskowin up on a map to see where it was. Yeah, Neskowin is such a small town that when you drive on Hwy. 101 if you blink, you'll miss it. Not a lot going on there, but you can find some interesting state beaches and parks to visit, and you aren't far from the town of Tillamook and the cheese factory with tours daily.
Since we haved lived in the western U.S. our whole lives, we've traveled on Hwy. 101 many times. It seems that no matter when we travel you will find some kind of road construction going on. Yesterday was no exception as we came upon a Flagger near the town of Hebo.
After leaving the Tillamook area, the highway follows the rugged, rocky coastline very closely. On a bright sunny day the views are outstanding. The road has been cut through mountains and the scene looks a little scary at times. The rock walls rise steeply from the roads surface and come awfully close sometimes.
We eventually arrived at our final destination.....Seaside. We've stayed here once before and have always wanted to return. We are at Seaside Resort and I will post an RV Park Review soon. We will be staying here for the next 7 days.
We had made arrangements to meet fellow Bloggers, Carol and Dave, at their RV up in Astoria later in the day. So we got our motorhome settled in at Seaside Resort and set out for Astoria, 12 miles north of us. Carol had e-mailed us great directions and we found the RV park without problems. This was our first time meeting this RV Blogging couple and we hit it off right away. Dave writes his own blog about the RV life and their travels. He is also a referee for football games. Carol started her blog before Dave, and I became a Follower on both of their blogs. Carol has written recently about their newfound hobby of geocaching. Both blogs are great and different from each other....so well worth a look see.
We went into downtown Astoria for a late lunch and it was a fun place called Wet Dog Cafe. The menu was filled with great selections of salads, burgers, sandwiches and seafood items. So many things to choose from. Bruce and I each got a Bison Burger....yum! We enjoyed our meals and more great conversation since the four of us have much in common. Carol and Dave live in the Vancouver area of Washington and camp often in their brand new Bounder.
After lunch, we went back to their place for about an hour. Carol gave us the tour of their new rolling home and it is a great floorplan with a ton of storage space. Although they are not fulltimers, they travel extensively and often. Soon it was time to head back to Seaside and get Annie out for a walk.
We had such an enjoyable day and I think since Carol and Dave live fairly close to our homebase of Tumwater, we will be seeing more of them. We hope so. We enjoy meeting with other RV couples, especially fellow Bloggers.
Until next time.....so long for now!

I love the smaller places that we travel through. They are really neat to me and you can find some very interesting things in these places. Sorry the weather prevented you guys from some of those awesome views. Next time!!
Glad you enjoyed your visit with Carol and Dave. I have been following their blog also and have become good cyber friends. A really nice couple.
Take care and enjoy your stay at Seaside. :)

Margie, we haven't yet met Carol and Dave, but we follow Carol's blog. They seem like nice folks, and if you recommend them, by golly we want to meet them too! Have fun on the rainy coast!
I competely agree. It is a treat to meet people you have "seen" online. We have met 4 couples like that it our travels.
Maybe only RVers understand. Len's son was horrified when visiting with him last November we arranged meeting a couple from online for lunch. It really bothered him that we would do that.
To us it is the most natural thing to do.
The beach at Seaside is where I rode the horse on the beach. I did play in ankle deep water there..it was soooo cold!!
There is a taffy store there that is fun to go thru!!
Have fun!!

Hebo?? That's another town I had to look up on the map! Your blog is teaching me a lot about the small towns along Hwy. 101, so thanks.
Great to meet up with Carol and Dave. I read Carol's blog all the time but didn't know about Dave's until now so thanks for putting in the link.
Seaside has always been one of my favourite Oregon coast towns. I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of the RV park you're staying at.
Love the Astoria area. So beautiful there. What an adventure and meeting new friends! Superior! The Camp Host Housewife
Our feelings are mutual, Margie. We enjoyed meeting you and Bruce and we look forward to seeing you again. If you hadn't had to get back to Annie, we might still be talking!
Hope you get to do some great walks in Seaside, despite the cold and wet weather. At the coast, any sunshine makes it a good day!
I'm going to have to check out Carol and Dave's blogs! Thanks for telling us about them :)

We had dinner with Carol & Dave while we were in Portland. I agree...a great couple who definitely have the gift of hospitality and are great conversationalists.
I spent a week in Seaside while our son attended a basketball camp many years ago. It was a great time of rest and relaxation for me. Hope you have a great time there too.
