That was the question I heard over the phone after we got home from church this afternoon. How could I say no? Well, I could have just formed that word on my lips and said it out loud, but we are leaving in a couple of days, so I said “Yes” to the question instead.
A nice afternoon of relaxing would have been wonderful, but it was nice to allow the Grands to come over again for a little play time at Grandma and Papa’s house on wheels. We won’t be back for 2 months so I fixed all of us lunch when they were dropped off.
Bruce got the toy box out from our basement and after sandwiches and grapes the girls were fast into the usual restaurant mode. That pile of cheap dishes and plastic food has kept them entertained for years. They can get noisy, but they are good kids and I was able to take a few pics of them at play.
Zoey decided to set her kitchen up on the floor.
As usual, Grandma was the main restaurant customer. Papa tries to hide behind his book, but they often times make him play, too. They sometimes have their apron on and the order pads in their pockets. I was feeling hungry and wished that food was real!
We played restaurant for about 2 hours and then they picked all of that up and wanted to play a game of Guess Who? I think Bruce tried to nap for a while….silly guy!
Zoey fixed me a large bowl of fruit and vegetables.
While all of this was going on I was able to get our small throw rugs washed and dried in anticipation of leaving on Tuesday. Bruce checked the batteries and the tire pressure. We’ll stop to adjust tire pressure on our way out Tuesday afternoon. We have to make a fuel stop at the local Pilot station and can do the tires there. The rest of the “getting ready to roll” items on the list will be completed tomorrow.
For now we just have to wait until Tuesday to get our dental cleaning appointments out of the way and we’ll be ready to trek down to the Portland area. We’ll stay the night at the Camping World in Wilsonville for an 8:00 am appointment Wednesday morning. We have plans to meet my cousin and his wife Tuesday evening for dinner.
I think we are really ready to go. If it weren’t for those dental appointments, we could have rolled out of here late last week. Oh well. I had a couple of questions asking where the pic on my blog header was taken. I’ve added that information to the top of the pic, but it was taken in July while we were touring in the Mt. Rainier National Park in Washington. It shows the view looking out to the west over the Cascade Mountain range.
Hope everyone has had a great weekend.
Until next time…..so long for now!
It isn't over till it's over!
ReplyDeleteYour Granddaughters are so cute, they are really going to miss you guys. Have a nice, relaxing evening.

Who can say no to their Grand Children. I never could and I see you are the same.
ReplyDeleteYou might as well sneak in as many visits with those cuties while you can. You'll be missing them soon enough!
ReplyDeleteJust wondering about the restaurant game - did the Grands have what you wanted to order? Looked like a fun afternoon - especially for the hard working waitresses!
ReplyDeleteNot long to go now!!
I think the "grands" will miss you both very much! Glad you had one more day to play.
ReplyDeleteYou all drive safely and enjoy your trip. :-)

Wow that's a long time to play at the same game. Maybe they should be preparing for a future in the restaurant business. *giggle*
ReplyDeleteI too am thinking how much they will miss you. You have planted so much valuable love on action into their young lives this summer.
How sweet that the grands wanted to come over and play restaurant. Some grandmas bake goodies with their grandchildren. You've found a non-caloric way to interact with them. Your blast-off day is almost here!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great time your grand daughters are having! Enjoy every second!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid Bruce finish his book??..thanks for the info on the header picture!!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure a quiet, relaxing weekend would have been delightful, but good for you for saying "yes". You are obviously very special people for them to want to spend time with you and doubly so for granting their request.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day, I know you were glad to say yes and enjoy one more day with the kids. I don't even want to think about my time in Pa. being away from Adam & Rigg's, it will be at least a month probably more. Oh well that is life, and the kids will have to get used to it.Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteThe title of the post made me smile and laugh. I just knew the answer had to be "yes".
ReplyDeletePriceless memories! =)
ReplyDeleteThank you for allowing us to be a part of it.
May the dentist bring you nothing but good news and a new toothbrush! =)
Enjoy your dinner Tuesday evening with your cousin and his wife!
Safe and happy travels!
I think it's awesome that they wanted to come over and play with you.
ReplyDeleteGreat header photo, feels like Im there!
Cheers!
Here we are in Carson City with family, and they are nearly driving us nuts. While we love our family, all three generations down, they do not understand that we need our "us" time and that we are not energy machines. We have opted out of some of their plans, but thoroughly enjoy being with them. We don't get to see any of them often, so we feel guilty about not doing everything they had in mind. How do you say no to a grandchild who is also the mother of your first and only great grandchild?
ReplyDeleteNow... do you tip those waitresses???
ReplyDeleteWe have a Fischer Price farm set that belonged to my grandmother. it went through us kids, our kids and now our kid's kids... no matter how old they are, they still like to play with it.
I think I will pack it when we go fulltime, kinda like your dishes!

The best laid plans......But extra hugs and kisses go immediately on the FRONT burner! The fact that you had to wait for the dentist kills me...I HATE the dentist..and put off going until my teeth resemble The Wicked Witch of the Hiker!
ReplyDeleteHaving kissed our granddaughters good bye yesterday in what could be for as long as a year, I can understand savoring every moment.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels.
