The kids invited us and our son over for a farewell dinner of grilled steak and salmon. 2 of our favorite foods! We got over to their house about 4:00 and while our daughter prepared some potatoes in the kitchen, the girls used Bruce and I as customers at the beauty salon.
Stephanie gets the potatoes sliced.
Bruce got the chance to go first and get his hair cut at the salon. I double-checked those scissors to make sure they were play scissors and would not cut hair. Didn’t want to take any chances. Bruce was so happy to play. (hehe)
Hold still Papa. I’m trying to comb your hair.
Ok Papa, you’re finished now. Next customer, please.
I was called into the chair next. Mackenzie was right into it styling my hair. Zoey was busy getting some things ready to play restaurant when we were finished with this. Seems like we can never get away from “restaurant play”.
I’m almost finished now Grandma.
It seemed that a pedicure was on order next. Bruce immediately slipped downstairs when he heard that plan. What a chicken! Mackenzie got to work on my toes right away with her emery board.
Coochie Coochie, tickle tickle!
Why did Papa leave? Can’t I work on his toes?
Zoey was the last victim….um, I mean customer. She got the cape on and sat under the pretend hair dryer after getting her hair styled.
Zoey has her toes “soaking” in the pretend soaker for her pedicure.
We had a great evening with good food and a couple of games of Rummikub before heading back to the RV. It was nice to get the whole family together before we head out tomorrow. Big events this week with the first day of school approaching. Both of the girls are more then ready for that. Everyone’s schedule will be getting back to normal.
Hard to believe but we survived the busy summer none the worse for wear. We are looking forward to some important “us” time now, no doubt about it.
Until next time….so long for now!
Well, you just can't beat that - a haircut, pedicure plus a grilled steak and salmon dinner. What a great way to spend your last day before heading out on a very well deserved trip to Pismo Beach.
ReplyDeleteThe Grands sure seem to find great ways to have fun without TV, X-box or some other electronic game. That's great stuff - they are certainly going to miss their Grandparents - and, best customers too!!
Margie, So glad you had a good family dinner before you leave and the grands were able to give haircuts/styles for you before you head off. Also great to have the toe nails done. Now you're ready for your trip.
ReplyDeleteDrive careful and be safe.

What a send-off: haircuts and styling, pedicures, and dinner!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great way to end your summer with the family. :)
ReplyDeleteYour grandkids' imaginations are brilliant! Too many kids sit around and play video games or watch TV all the time; it's refreshing to see some good ol' creativity in effect!
Bon voyage and have a well deserved rest. I agree with the other comments, your grand-kids sure know how to play. What will they do without their best "customers" ????☺
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on completing a successful summer of babysitting! Hopefully Mackenzie and Zoey will be so busy with school that they won't miss you too much.
ReplyDeleteNow, on to blast-off day. Have a safe trip to Pismo Beach, Margie and Bruce! Wave to us as you pass through Vancouver!
what a great 'maintenance day'..now you are ready for your new adventures!!
ReplyDeleteMargie, you look so sad in that picture.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you got to have a nice "farewell for now" dinner with your family. Those little girls are sure gonna miss you!

What a great day with the grands and the food sounds good to.
ReplyDeleteThey are such "girls" aren't they? They have had such a fun and busy summer. I'm sure they will miss you two, and vice versa!
ReplyDeleteHappy Travels, Margie! :) Sounds like a great last evening with the "fam" before hitting the road.
ReplyDeleteHappy Travels, Margie! :) Sounds like a great last evening with the "fam" before hitting the road.
ReplyDeleteAs an OLD hairdresser, I can see some definite talent there...You two have a safe trip and enjoy that "together" time...Remember what you said about "time"....
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute post! I LOVE the first picture of Bruce at the "salon". =) Glad to hear you had good food and good company before you head out! Happy and safe travels!
ReplyDelete{{hugs}}
A great sendoff and even no loss of hair. Enjoy the "us" time on the road.
ReplyDeleteAwwwww what a couple of sweethearts! And so nice of your daughter to remember you and celebrate and appreciate all that you have done over the summer. You are very blessed to have such sweet angels in your life!

You're going to wow all those folks in Pismo Beach with your new "do's" :)
ReplyDeleteI (Jerry) would have followed Bruce to the basement, while Suzy would have sat there nice and quiet. Our 13-14 year old former step-granddaughter (long story there!) did Suzy's hair one time -- for real, at least no scissors. What a mess! You are a saint, but at least it was all pretend!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you two were well taken care of! Cute kids!
ReplyDeleteDo you ever smile?
