Tech-Support, Elk and Wild Boar

I would like to welcome a new “Follower” to my RV blog.  THANK YOU to Frugal Traveler’s for joining in.  I appreciate your interest in my blog about our fulltime RV lifestyle.  I hope you enjoy it.

Support from fellow bloggers is always appreciated.  Over the past several weeks (months?) tech-wizard, Rick, has been helping me with some issues that have been way over my head.  I have come to consider him better than the Geek Squad you can get help with from Best Buy.

DSCF5932Rick bailed me out of a mess again when helping me to reconfigure the location of my sitemeter.  The previous location was not a “gadget” but it was embedded into my template.  Rick to the rescue and he helped me get it placed as another “gadget feature” on my sidebar.  Thanks again, Rick.  I cannot even begin to repay you.

Last night Bruce and I drove up to Lacey to our local Cabela's store for dinner.  What?  A sporting good store for dinner?  Yeah, you read that right.  Cabela’s is the largest sporting good store we’ve ever seen.  They are RV friendly, too.  They permit an overnight stay in their parking lot and even have a dump station.

We first discovered their cute little café when we met Sue and Doug there for lunch several weeks ago.  They were on their way back home after an Oregon vacation.  Bruce and I enjoyed the meal we ate that day and decided to return.

We were in search of game meat deli sandwiches.  I ordered the elk sandwich on whole wheat bread and it was soooooo good.  Bruce ordered the wild boar on whole wheat and it was good, too.  We each shared half a sandwich of each so we could sample the different meat.

Family crisis intervened in our enjoying a leisure meal, but before we scurried out, I snapped a few pics of the interior of Cabela’s. They have a wide variety of animals placed around the store.  You could spend hours inside this massive retail sportsman’s paradise.

We don’t hunt, fish, or camp in the great outdoor wilderness, but this is still a great place to browse.  They have everything you could possibly imagine.  Hope you enjoyed the tour!

Until next time…..so long for now!

  1. Glad you gave us the heads up on Cabela's. We have never been in one but we will certainly be on the lookout as we travel. I hope we can come by one so we can experience this huge sporting goods store. To have a place to eat within the store it must be HUGE!!
Hope you enjoyed your meal. :-)

  2. I will take being called "better than a Geek" as a true compliment! Thanks again for your kinds words - even the geek one!! Could have been worse, I guess - you could have said "nerd"! LOL.

Those 'wild beast' sandwiches looked pretty darned tasty! I'd be putting lots of mustard on those, I can tell.

I've never been into a Cabella's store even though we've passed a few on the road. Thanks for the tip about the cafe, I'll be giving that a try next time we run across one!

  3. I'm still laughing about your final picture - You could hide in this department and no one would find you.

My son Steve used to do that to me when I took him into a department store - hide in the racks and let me look all over for him! Payback is on the way though - he has just a couple of weeks until his own son comes into the world!

  5. Rick's knowledge about technical blogging topics is first-rate. I appreciate his willingness to help others bloggers.

We'll have to check out the fine dining at Cabela's. Thanks for showing us your delicious-looking sandwiches!

  6. Now there's a store I can't take SD to! He hides in the clothes racks as it is! (see my lastest post on this).
The food looked really good. I tend to like big game meat, doesn't taste so processed. Will certainly look for that store when (if?) we are on the road.
Hope the family crisis wasn't too bad :)
    Cheers!

  7. Have been to several Cabela's stores and enjoyed them. Prices are a little pricey sometimes, but the selection is certainly broad. And saying that they have animals scattered throughout the store might scare off some people, unless you explain that those animals are all stuffed and mounted! Yeah, I know your pix show that; I'm just being a smart aleck!

  8. Margie,

Thanks for the mention, and I second the notion that Rick is better than Geek Sqad. What will we do if he starts charging like them?? :) Pidge
