We are almost finished with our 7-day stay at the Seaside Leisure Time Resort in Seaside, Oregon. It is a Thousand Trails Company resort. We are staying here with our Resorts of Distinction (ROD) membership. We had made reservations at this popular resort about 90 days ago. There is a 7-day stay limit for affiliate membership programs at this particular resort.
We stopped first at the sentry gate for check-in. It was a quick stop as they had everything in order. We were instructed to continue on and select our own site and then report back to them. One BIG condition (which had changed since our last visit) was that we had to stay on this South side of the resort with the 30 amp. spaces. It seems that the North side of the resort is only held for Thousand Trails members. OK, we’re still good with that. We quickly found that site #75 seemed perfect for us.
This South side actually had better sites, in our opinion, than the North side. Here on the South the spaces seemed further apart than on the North side.
South side row of RV’s…..
North side row of RV’s………
I did the usual walk-around at this resort campground. The South side and the North side are separated by a public road, but it has little traffic. If you want to go to the indoor pool…..that is on the North side.
There is also a Sand Dollar Cafe attached to the pool building where breakfast is served on Saturday and Sunday. There are long tables here and this is where they host bingo, games, and other social activities.
There is a family lounge area, library, and WiFi room on the North side. Restrooms and showers are in this area. A playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball and tennis courts are here as well.
Back on the South side you can find a large laundry room and equally nice restrooms and showers, that were very clean. On “our” South side is an Adult Lounge which was fairly small and not of much use from what I could see. There is also a nice playground for kids on the South side.
We are enjoying our time here at this resort campground. It is quiet and peaceful here and an easy 1.8 mile walk to the downtown “Turnaround” by the Prom in Seaside. We are far enough away from Highway 101 so that we do not hear any traffic noise.
Thousand Trails is using an interesting approach to try and attract new memberships. They have opened the resort up to the general public, I’m sure in hopes that folks will like it here and opt to purchase a membership. We saw the Park Ranger (that’s what staff are called) one day and I asked her what the daily rate was for the general public. On weekdays the daily rate is $62.00 and on weekends it is $67.00. That seems like a lot to me and she even said it with a straight face !! But here’s the real kicker…..even at those rates they CANNOT stay in the 50 amp. sites. They are stuck over in the 30 amp. sites on the South side. If I was paying $67.00 a day for a weekend stay I’d be pretty ticked off if I couldn’t stay with the 50 amp. service.
Even so, for our price of FREE upon check-in we’d certainly come here again. FREE is still a bargain no matter how you look at it.
Until next time……so long for now!
I agree with you. South Side definitely looks better. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteFree is always good, Margie. Thanks for another great review and pictures. Those prices are a little steep though so that's terrific information to know.
ReplyDeleteWe are TT/NACO members and that rate for the public is the same at all their preserves (what they call their campgrounds). We think it is extremely high. Don't really know what the corporate office is thinking...I know we would not pay that much for any campground/resort. Really do wonder if any of the preserves are actually getting public use.
ReplyDeleteLocation, location, location. But I agree, $62-67 sounds way too high for that resort. Do you happen to know if the fee for the public is less in the winter?
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to continue to stay at the Lewis and Clark RV Park in Astoria for $22/night, using Camp Club USA. Even that only got us one night since it was during the summer. We can stay for an unlimited amount of time at that price during the winter.
Carol K -- I don't know about rates for the off season. I didn't inquire of the park ranger. She wasn't the most friendly person we've ever come across.
ReplyDeleteEven though this location is great, those public rates are way too high in our opinion. Hey...some folks may be OK with it.
Looks like the south side is a lot roomier, I don't think I would pay that price for what you are getting, the only place I paid anywhere near that, about $45 a night was at the Holiday Village in Virginia Beach, but they had six pools and a night club plus all sorts of activities, for kids and adults. Your review, as usual was first rate. Be safe out there. Sam & Donna.
ReplyDeleteWhew--- $62-67 is too rich for our blood too. Last weekend we had a 30 amp site, great views, nice shower and laundry building... but no indoor pool. Had a great lake to swim in. LOL But we only paid $15. More fitting to our budget.

The costs are WAY over our budget. We used to stay at a CG in Ocean City MD right across from Assateague Island. A few years ago it was given a badly needed facelift. Rates went to $79 a night with a 7 night minimum. As much as we like this park, too rich for our blood.
ReplyDeleteNow that we are fulltimers - we really have to be aware of each nights cost.
Hi Margie,
ReplyDeleteI love those Thousand Trails resorts. When John and I started RVing over twenty years ago, we had one of our first experiences with a Thousand Trails in Washington state. Thanks for the pictures. Margie, I see that your blog links have not automatically updated to my current blog title: A Camp Host Housewife's Meanderings. (It is still listed as Stand Still with Levonne.) This is interesting because on other peoples' sites, it automatically changed. Anyway, thanks for listing my blog in your blog roll. The Camp Host Housewife
Well it is unanimous!! That price is a bit steep for us....however it is a nice looking campground.
ReplyDeleteI think the south side is a little roomier. I would prefer it to the north side also.
Thanks for the great review and glad you all had a nice time while camped there.
Drive safely!!
