A Bit Of Seaside and Some Muscle Cars

This weekend here in Seaside the town was hosting the Muscle 'N Chrome car show.  We decided to walk downtown to check it out.  We had already taken an hour walk early Saturday morning, so this would be another long walk which we really need.  Getting from the Seaside RV Resort to Broadway Street is probably close to 1 3/4 miles.  Broadway is the main thoroughfare in the touristy section of Seaside and that is where the cars were parked for public viewing.  They were pretty awesome and my pics don't do them justice.

Seaside is where the Lewis and Clark trail ended.  There is a bronze statue of the explorers to proclaim this historic area.   The statue is on the "Turnaround" which is at the deadend of Broadway
Street at the ocean and allows cars to turnaround and go the other way.  We had walked down to look at the beach after looking at the muscle cars.  There were many people watching the large kites flying in the strong wind.

The streets were very crowded compared to our early morning walk.  Seemed like everybody and their dog was out enjoying a good day.

The other day we went over to the Pig'N Pancake for a really great blueberry waffle.  Too many calories though, and we'll stick to our oatmeal or English muffins at McDonald's now.  We did see an unusual combination advertised on another restaurant sign.  I've never heard of Mexican Sushi.  Have you?

Seaside is a beautiful place to stay for a few days or longer if you can.  During the summer months it becomes a getaway place for folks living in Portland.  It is a good place to go and escape the hot summer days.  Except for Saturday, the town hasn't had many visitors during our time here.  I guess it isn't hot enough yet over in Portland.  The rugged coastline of Oregon is fantastic, and equal with the coastal beauty found in Maine.   I hope everyone will get an opportunity to explore this area for themselves.

Happy Father's Day to all the guys out there!

Until next time.....so long for now!

  5. Thanks for the great pics and tour of Seaside - it's one of our favourite spots on the Oregon coast! Mexican Food & Sushi?? That is strange and whenever I see a food combo like that, I figure it's a place that I should avoid!!
