RV PARK REVIEW: Sun Valley Campground, Chillicothe, Ohio

After our long drive through the mountains of West Virginia, we arrived in Ohio.  We continued west on Hwy. 50 to the town of Chillicothe.  We found a campground called Sun Valley listed in the Trailer Life Directory and decided to settle there for the night.  We had to take a small detour off Hwy. 50 onto Hwy. 35 to reach Sun Valley Campground, but only about 5 miles.

We had not called ahead for a reservation.  Being early in the camping season we thought we would just take a chance and see what they had.  The directory listed only 5 sites with full hook-ups and we were OK with that.  The Sun Valley Campground was small, 45 sites total, but we only needed one!  The office is part of the owners home and the woman that helped us was very friendly.  Like last night, no credit cards but checks and cash are welcome.   The Good Sam rate was $27.00.  I thought that was a little bit high for a water/electric only site.....but, it is what it is.  It was a 50 amp site, so really, not a bad price.  The entry drive is wide enough for a big rig to enter and a car to pass by to exit the campground.

We were shown to a pull-through site and got settled without problems.  A couple of tall trees were blocking our satellite dish, but we didn't care, reading and blogging are always good.  We saw that some other sites were free from trees, so most should be OK here.

I took Annie for a walk and brought the camera for a few photos for this review.  There is a nice pond here for swimming or fishing.  I'm not a pond swimmer, so I'll take their word on that!   They also have a nice restroom building and I inspected the ladies side and found it to be neat and clean with plenty of counter space to lay out all the junk we ladies need to have.  :)

We didn't worry about this one tree being so close to our slide out.  Before extending it, I just went outdoors with my handy little slide-out measuring stick and saw that it would clear with a few inches to spare.

There are some nice shady sites here and some that are out in the sunshine.  Take your pick.  There is also a game room and a pavilion for group activities.  A playground was at the front of the campground.  Although it isn't a large campground, it is very nice.  They are in the process of adding more sewer and 50 amp electric to existing sites, but these things take time for small campground owners to get accomplished.  We would definitely stay here again if we are in the area.

Until next time.....so long for now!
