RV PARK REVIEW: Lost Valley Lake, Owensville, Missouri (and a New Follower)

Today I found another new "Follower" and I'd like to say THANK YOU to Gardener-Sinya for joining my group.  I hope you will find something of interest as you follow our RV adventures.  I appreciate you stopping by!

We had quite a long day today.  We left North Vernon, Indiana and drove all the way to Owensville, Missouri.   We made a complete drive-through in Illinois.  Sorry Illinois, we'll spend time with you on another journey.

We had a little rain this afternoon as we crossed the Mississippi River and entered the state of Missouri.  It lasted about an hour and then the sky cleared.  We had made reservations for 1 night at the Lost Valley Lake Resort, which is a membership park for us with Coast to Coast and ROD.  This park is located well off the highway.  In fact they are so far off Hwy. 50 I was beginning to wonder if we'd get there!  This is our drive to the campground on Hwy. Y.

I don't have a picture of the front entry, unfortunately.  I forgot to take one and it is too far back there to go now.  They have 537 acres of rolling hills here in this large campground.  We parked in front of the registration office and they had our reservation all organized and had already assigned us our space.  The young lady checking us in did not know diddly-squat about anything, however.  Good thing the paperwork was finished because I doubt she could have handled it.  She was very friendly, but she should not have been working the front desk without supervision.  We have never been here previously and after check-in she just handed us the map.  This park is huge and the map was a little involved so we asked for assistance on locating site #623 which was ours.  She had great difficulty finding it.  She said, "just go past the maintenance yard."  We had no idea where that was.  Then we asked if it had 50 amp, as we'd requested, and she didn't know and had to run and ask somebody.  We got through all the confusion and finally went on our way.

As we drove the winding and steep climb to the campsite levels we came to the lake and clubhouse area.
The clubhouse is undergoing new construction but as you can see by the photo, it is already a beautiful building.  The lake here is also quite beautiful.  There is a boat house, boat rentals, beach area, swimming area with slides, a playground and a lot more.  There is fishing on this lake as well as at another large lake in another area of the campground.

We continued on our way and the road by the campsites became rutted and a bit bumpy.  Not the best condition.  We went all the way to a leveled out area for the larger areas at the top of a hill.  Not a lot of trees, but that was fine with us because the satellite dish will work great.  This is site #623.  Most of the sites in this section could use some work.  They slope downward a lot and it took a while to get leveled out, and yet it still isn't totally level.  It is only the one night and we can make do.  We do have full hook-ups and a 50 amp electric here and they did not charge extra for the added power.   This is our site with our RV tucked as far back as we could get it to make it level.  The other photo shows some of the other sites in an area for smaller RV's.

They have a sparkly clean outdoor pool next to a spa and a kiddy pool.  Then across the street is a smaller indoor pool.  There are tons of things to do here.  They have:  an arcade, indoor mini-golf, softball fields, shuffleboard, hiking, horseback riding, a weight room, sand volleyball court, basketball court and much more.

They have several restroom buildings that looked fine.  This is the ladies restroom in one of the buildings in another camping loop from ours.  There is also a small cafe and market on the property for guest use.

Lost Valley Lake Resort is an ownership park, plus an affiliate park with our Coast to Coast and the ROD.  It apparently is not open to the general public.  Their website seemed a bit vague to me on the "ownership" details.  You probably have to hear the sales pitch to know anything about that.  We paid $10.00 for our nights stay.  It is an OK park and we would stop again if we were on Hwy. 50 in Missouri.  This is very far off the beaten path from anything, but it makes a great destination resort if you wanted to stay for a week or two.  It could be just what you are looking for.

Until next time......so long for now!

  1. Looks like the drive to the campground was worth it. Very nice with lots of amenities but isn't it a shame that when folks build these campgrounds they don't get the sites level???
We have not looked into owning a campground membership yet. Perhaps that would be something to look into. I like the price with the membership!!

    Take care and drive safely.

  2. It really is a lovely park. I don't like to go more than a couple miles maximum off the highway for a campground. There have been some exceptions, but for the most part I would trade a bit of highway noise for the convenience when arriving and leaving.

One place in Illinois I've always wanted to see but never took the time is Kahokia. Some day I'll get there.

  5. Looks to be a pretty luxurious park for just $10 - good deal! I guess it must be mostly a summer vacation destination for most people as it is so far off the highway and is membership only. Thanks for the tour!

  6. Hey.. for $10 that is a pretty nice place. Isn't it crazy that the people who actually construct the campground sites are NOT campers and don't realize the importance of being level??? You would think that would be the number one consideration?

  7. It looks like you stayed in the newer part of the park that was added maybe 5 years ago? "The Lodge" burned down a few years ago due to a kitchen fire that got out of control, and the new building you saw under construction is probably the replacement. When I was there in 07' they hadn't started rebuilding it yet.

  8. We have a membership to lost valley lake. And we ust it aot.we camp there from march to November. 21 days a month.it is a very nice park.however. e have had a few bad experiences there.in which when management was told about it. Thry corrected it very quickly. The store and cafe is ran by someone new. Which iam very glad now wr will go there and eat sometimes. We have met ssome wonderful people there, and bacame life long friends. Since wr startef camping there 6 years ago.our circle of friends had grown a lot.some employees there seem to think they own the resort but you must overlook these few people. Most employees are very friendly and woud go ut of their way to help u.they are very costly to have maintenance to work on your camper.one woud think for the price you pay for a maintenance person help per hour. That you woud get a knowledgeable person in rb repair, this is not always so.

you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you can do with some
pics to drive the message home a bit, but other than

  11. You can pick up basic equipment for very little or you can go
for higher quality tackle and spend hundreds or
thousands. Never dawned on me that they might want to try
it, so I was surprised one day in the late-eighties when my son called and said they wanted to go fishing.
All the equipment is included in your deep sea fishing charter Cancun and the boat
is so nice you will want to take advantage of the luxury fishing afforded from the Querida del Mar.

  12. I understand that those are the products designed by manufacturers to make them money and if they are endorsed by winning popular professionals, sales will be high.

However, every character in the game (even supporting players)
should be presented in this same detail. If you want to be able to hit the ball further and harder, you should keep
in mind to keep your grip on the bat loose,
your swing should begin with your legs and hips, and finally, you must always follow your bat through.

Quicker to produce and available in lower costs, they often feature a lot of complex designs.

one can conclude that games are a creative expression of the human spirit through the creation of an activity that has an entertaining, instructive and competing element.

  18. com provides information on Fishing, Fly Fishing, Fishing Boats,
Deep Sea Fishing and. Pay close attention to the mayflies,
midges, and stoneflies in the area and try to match your flies to the size
and type fish are biting on. Yet sometimes a net is better to use because it usually doesn't harm the fish and will most likely be easier for you to prepare the fish for later.

we play outside the rules there of course is a penalty. It

  20. Today, I went to the beach front with my children.
I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter
and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to
    tell someone!

  21. , Is Muscle Maximizer a sham or does it sincerely work.
If you would definitely be a true beginner to figuring out to gain muscular, you will need to begin your workouts inside the gym or
health and fitness center to use trainers and other staff to support and teach anyone setup
your schooling routine. Then opt for ones cheapest way to help you feed those guns while using the Egg White peptids.

  24. Bruce and Margie thank you for your stay at Lost Valley Lake. Your experience at our Front-Desk is unacceptable and below our standards so I apologize for this. Typically our Roving Ranger will escort Guests to their site and if needed will have our Maintenance staff help with any initial set needs our Guest may have. Since your stay in 2010 we have chipped and sealed approximately two miles in one of our RV areas and in August 2015 we will pave approximately one more additional mile. We have been improving our sites to ensure they meet our Campers requirements. I notice some of your followers are affiliated with Coast and ROD - we are affiliated with both Coast and ROD and enjoy being their host.
