Flower Power

We've been hanging out around Mouse Mountain this week and making some quick visits to Disney World a couple of times.  We can't be gone too long since Annie needs to get out for a walk in the middle of the day.  It will be easier beginning Thursday when we check into Fort Wilderness campground.

Epcot flowers:
Mouse Mountain RV Resort is actually on a little bit of a rise, or what is called a hill here in Florida.  The wind really kicks up in the afternoons and it helps to keep it very cool.  Nice, actually.  Florida is a very flat state.  We come from California originally, which has the Sierra Nevada mountain range, so nothing here could be called a real "mountain."

Sunday we visited Epcot, one of the 4 theme parks that comprise a good part of the Walt Disney World complex.  They are having their Flower Show, or something like that.  Anyway, they have a lot of beautiful flowers laid out in fabulous designs throughout the park.  They normally have impeccable landscape designs throughout the year, but during this time of year they provide the visitor the opportunity to view amazing and beautiful flowers.

Epcot flowers:

They also have free concerts 3 or 4 times a day.  Currently, the theme for the concerts is Flower Power and the acts are from the 1960's.....you know, hippies and the whole Flower Power generation.  We stopped to listen to Peter Noone and Herman's Hermits sing their hits from long ago.  Gosh, the whole audience looked like Bruce and I.....aging people with graying hair!  There were folks with walkers, too.  :)   It was fun and the audience really got into the singing of I'm Henry the 8th which was the Hermits biggest hit (I think).  We had fun thinking back to the "good old days."

Epcot flowers:
I hope everyone continues to have a great week!

Until next time....so long for now!

  1. Marge you must be in Donna & my age group, Hennery the 8th was big while I was in high school, what a childhood we had, it sure didn't hurt us, the old discipline in school and church plus at home, the Viet Nam war, nobody had much money,I truly believe that was the way to raise kids,We haven't been to Disney World since my youngest was about 10, he is 28 now. I'll bet it is completely different now. That was before our camping days so we stayed at the Carribean Beach resort, on the grounds. Back then it was about $100 a day but that included all transportation and two meals a day. Hope you guys enjoy your stay.Nothing wrong with grey hair and white beards. Be safe out there, Sam & Donna.

  3. "Did" Epcot several years ago, have no interest in returning. We do hope to use Florida as an elbow for a future journey to the east coast, but don't want to stay long. Although we'll probably have to winter there. Thanks for showing us your visit! We do love the flower displays!

  4. We were just in WDW October of 2008 and we had a blast. we have done Disneyland too, a few years earlier. I always see the magic in the place, rather than just the rides or the cost of things.
    I love it there!!!
We hope to get there someday, maybe in the next year or so.
    The flowers look so beautiful
