Friends and Family Time

My apologies to one of the newer "Followers" in that I never realized that they had joined my group.  When I log on to my blog site I can see the total number of Followers listed and unless that number changes, I don't look further and just get on with my new post.  So the number had read 37 for a while until yesterday when I saw it said 38.  I looked to see who it was so I could thank them and there were TWO new names.  It seems I had lost an old "Follower" the same day one of the new ones joined so the number didn't change.  So for today.......

I would like to extend a big THANK YOU to my newest Followers, Lin Moore and Dee.  I appreciate the two of you joining my group and I hope that I will entertain you, if not inform you, with stories of our life on the road as fulltime RVer's.

The main reason we came to this Anaheim area, was to visit with Bruce's Aunt Phyllis.  Since she became a widow in 2000, we try to make a visit to her at least once a year.  Bruce also helps advise her on financial matters and sees about her yearly income tax filing.  We were able to enjoy a long visit with her the other day at the retirement home where she lives in Orange, California.  Aunt Phyllis will be 81 on her next birthday and she is still a go-getter and fun to be with.  We also saw her 2 daughters, Lynn and Sandra, but they got away before I remembered to take their pictures.  Next time for sure.

We took our 1 hour walk this morning around the perimeter of Disneyland Resort.  It takes right at 1 hour to walk from our RV park, around D-land, and back home again.  Disney has provided these nice, wide sidewalks to make walking or jogging more enjoyable.

On the walk we went past the Alpine Inn which has been on Katella Avenue for as long as I can remember.  The snow has never melted!

Today we had a lunch date with one of my very dearest friends, Margaret.  I met Margaret in 1977 when our son, Dennis, began 1st grade in her classroom at Patton Elementary School in Garden Grove, California.  Margaret taught a 1st-2nd-3rd combo class of gifted students.  She was Dennis' teacher for 3 years and then our daughter, Stephanie, entered the same program and she was her teacher for 3 years.  I was a parent volunteer all of those years and Margaret and I also formed a Girl Scout troop and worked as co-leaders for over 9 years.  We had a troop even when my daughter was no longer a Girl Scout.  We just loved doing that volunteer work and being together as leaders.  Later, I got hired on by the GGUSD as an Instructional Aide and I was placed in Margaret's classroom where I worked for 5 years until we moved from California in 1993.  A lot of history there between us, and all of it good.

So we met with Margaret and her twin sister, Marilyn, at the Souplantation Restaurant in Lakewood.  We had a great time catching up on each other's activities since our last visit.  Marilyn and Margaret are both widowed now, and have almost completed the building of their dream home in Prescott, Arizona.  They will be moving in a matter of days to their new home.  We will have to make a plan to go and visit them.  Margaret is the twin on the right.

Until next time......so long for now!

  2. We agree with Rick -- not on everything, but at least on your post. Family and friends are a treasure to hold close!
