Yesterday Bruce walked over to Costco, which is across the street from our RV park, and picked up a copy of the new Windows 7 program. Like a lot of people, we have the Vista system with our PC. Over the past 5 months or so, we began experiencing aggravating problems when using the computer. So, we figured we may as well get this new Windows 7 program and see if things improve.
Our son, Dennis, came over to see if Bruce needed any assistance in getting things backed-up and saved before proceeding to install the new system. Did he think we were stupid? Well, not exactly...but he knows we are in the technically challenged category.
Everything got finished the way it was supposed to be done, we bought Dennis lunch as a thank you, and we tried the computer to see if things worked better. Yes, they do. "I" don't work any better, but the computer seems to perform better for us now.
It is raining cats and dogs, as they say, today. It will be a good day to stay indoors and hunker. We can give the new Windows 7 system a good work out.
Until next time.....so long for now!
Is Dennis available for loan? We have two machines with Vista, one with XP. Let us all know how things work out with 7.
ReplyDeleteRaining cats and dogs? Wet cats aren't any fun, and wet dogs smell. Stay clear of those soggy animals.
Congratulations on installing Windows 7 on your PC. You are probably one of the first to do that. We've ordered a new Dell laptop with Windows 7 but it won't be here for another week or so - can't wait to get my hands on it and see what's new. I just may have to go to a computer store now and buy an upgrade so I can catch up to you!!
ReplyDeleteIt will be interesting to see how you like Windows 7 as you get more used to it. I thought about it, but decided to go with the Mac and so far I'm glad I did. My son is going to load Windows 7 on my old laptop, and I will just pack my old desktop away with Windows XP on it.
ReplyDeleteNice to have a computer "techie" around isn't it? I'm sooooo glad I don't have Vista!! They have had so many problems with Vista! I tried to help my daughter with hers (on one of my visits to Virginia Beach, VA). Ugh!!! I like my XP. Husband deliberately order my last new laptop with XP (and NOT Vista). And he says (he's my computer techie...lol) we will wait to get the upgrade to Windows 7...not sure why. p.s. raining "cats'n'dogs" here too!
ReplyDeleteThe price of this new Windows 7 was approx. $109.00 + tax at Costco. Not a bad price, especially if the system performs better than Vista. We had to buy a new PC about the time we went F/T and this was what was out there then. It was actually OK for a while...and then it all began. I know that Mac's are supposed to be to notch, but we've always had a Dell and we've been happy with them. I guess it seems easier to stick with what you know rather than try to adapt something new...at least for us 2 pea-brains anyway!
